School Safety

A Safe Haven for Learning

The well-being of our Wesleyan students and staff is our highest priority. We recognize that a thriving learning environment begins with every child feeling secure. To achieve this, our administration has introduced comprehensive protocols to protect our students’ physical safety and emotional health. These initiatives encompass enhanced security protocols, structural safeguards, cyber protection, and measures to support emotional well-being.

Wesleyan’s Comprehensive Safety Model

Physical

Wesleyan has implemented comprehensive physical safety measures to ensure a secure environment for students and staff. These measures include advanced door access control systems, two full-time on-campus police officers, a campus-wide surveillance system, police pull stations, and regular critical incident drills. Additionally, all faculty and staff undergo thorough background checks, student/staff ID badges are required, visitor check-in protocols are followed, and parents interested in volunteering must submit a background check.

EMOTIONAL

Because we understand that your child must feel a sense of emotional safety, several measures are in place to promote their well-being, including two full-time guidance counselors, a dedicated Student Support Team, our partnership with outside Christian Counselors, and hosting seminars focused on your child’s spiritual/emotional development and healthy communication. Our faculty and staff also follow a formal communication and reporting system within Wesleyan to track the well-being of our students.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Several initiatives are in place to enhance Wesleyan Christian Academy’s overall environmental safety, such as regularly reviewing emergency response protocols, identifying and training an internal First Responders Team of faculty and staff, conducting weather and natural disaster drills, and having an intentional presence in our student parking lots to aid your new drivers. Additionally, 11 AEDs are available across campus, including 5 stationed on campus, 5 traveling with athletic teams, and 1 at Sandy Ridge.

STRUCTURAL

The structural safety of Wesleyan’s Centennial Street and Sandy Ridge campuses is also essential to our staff and student safety plan. To this end, Wesleyan participates in regular facility inspections and hazard reporting and maintains an updated Crisis Incident Response Plan. Administrators, faculty, and staff receive safety training, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, robust cybersecurity software protects both students and data from online threats.
