Media Center
Media Center Welcome
At Wesleyan Christian Academy’s Media Center, we believe that fostering a love of reading starts early and is essential to a lifelong learning journey. Our goal is to nurture this passion by providing students access to engaging books, events, and resources supporting their intellectual and spiritual growth. From storytime for younger students to in-depth research opportunities for older ones, we encourage exploration and curiosity about all of God’s creation. Through our dynamic programs, we strive to help students grow in knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the world around them, rooted in a Biblical worldview.
The Media Center is open Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Media Center Programs and Events
The North Carolina Battle of the Books (BOB) is a statewide reading competition designed to promote a love of reading and encourage literacy among students. Sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA), Wesleyan Christian Academy’s 5th grade participates annually. The program involves reading a set list of books and competing in quiz-style tournaments.
Wesleyan’s Elementary Books and Breakfast events offer a special time for each grade level to visit the library with a parent, enjoy breakfast together, and read before the school day begins. These events foster family bonding and promote a love of reading as parents and students share the joy of exploring books in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Each grade level is assigned a specific day to participate, ensuring every student can engage in this enriching experience with their family.
Every Fall and Spring, Wesleyan Christian Academy partners with a national book publisher to host a school-wide book fair. This event offers students from the Early Education Center through high school the chance to explore a wide variety of age-appropriate books. Parents and students alike can browse and purchase titles, from picture books to young adult novels to cookbooks. These book fairs are a beloved event each semester, fostering excitement around reading and supporting literacy development across all grade levels.
Read Across America Day is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that celebrates the joy and importance of reading. Held each year on March 2nd, which is Dr. Seuss’s birthday, the event is organized by the National Education Association (NEA). The day serves as a platform to promote literacy and engage children in the habit of reading across the United States.
Wesleyan offers monthly and quarterly reading challenges for students in grades TK-4. By reading for 20 minutes every night, students can earn tokens to use in Wesleyan’s very own Book Vending Machine!
During the last week of October, elementary students can unleash their creativity by dressing up as their favorite book characters! Clutching the book that inspired their costume, they proudly parade through the halls, showcasing their imaginative outfits to fellow students and staff. This fun-filled event brings literature to life and is a highlight of the year for both students and teachers, creating lasting memories while celebrating a love for reading.
World Read Aloud Day, celebrated annually in February, is a global event that promotes the joy of reading and the power of storytelling. Founded by LitWorld, the day encourages people of all ages to read aloud and share stories to highlight the importance of literacy. Schools, libraries, and families participate by hosting read-aloud sessions, engaging in literacy activities, and promoting access to books. The goal is to inspire a love for reading, build community connections, and raise awareness about the critical role of literacy in improving education worldwide.
